Lesson #14 Journey Through the Code

Jenny/ May 6, 2020/ Homeschool Reviews

So last week we finished our JOEYS envelopes. If you just started reading on this post we are doing a year long review of The Kingdom Code and their entrepreneur program for kids! This week is a bit of a review week so lets get going!

Jake has been working very hard at his odd jobs business. He is mostly working at our home right now (age + our location + covid19 have restricted us somewhat) but he is getting lots done and gaining practical business experience! Not to mention its really building his character.😆 and calluses lol.

He completed the work on his rabbit pen and we were able to purchase 3 Mini Rex rabbits (super adorable BTW). Part of his job is to earn money each month to buy rabbit food. However once we start having baby rabbits and selling them he gets to keep the money above his expenses! He’s super excited about that. He’s been figuring how much of each amount earned goes where (math).

In addition he’s adding money to his JOEYS envelopes as he earns it. We had a bad storm Sunday and it knocked down limbs all over our yard. But Dennis and I didn’t have to pick up any! Our workcrew of Jake (9), Gabe (6), Lilly (3) picked up and hauled off every bit! Jake was the crew boss and did a great job of leading them to work hard and giving directions while working hard himself. He’s also completely taken over the laundry at our house and earns a wage each week which he divides up.

Jake does these business rules but his hardest to follow is listening carefully and not interrupting😬 His easiest rule is to be clean and attentive when talking to others. He communicates very easily with others and has great eye contact and a firm handshake.

We got to read an example of historical fiction which Jake loves! He’s also been learning about food preservation techniques and what was done in history versus now. He’s also been learning to cook with sourdough!

Jake has been working on building his reputation and making a Godly Character! If he gains that it will be the best lesson learned in the whole program!

Check back later for #15!
