Pathway to Liberty

We had the priviledge of using Pathway to Liberty’s “US History” last year as part of our reviews from The Review Crew. Then I was blessed this year with getting to review their “The Middle Ages”.

We have been using this program since we started our school year the first part of August. And I have to say we love it more and more as we go on!

What is this study on the Middle Ages entail?

I have to be very blunt upfront, this is a very detailed study. You are NOT going to learn about a few well-known people and facts and there you’re done. In fact, though I took world history in school I had never even heard of most of these people!

There is both a teacher and student book. The teacher book is reusable, the student book is a consumable notebook you can keep! There are lesson plans in both, leading ideas, principles and Bible verses. I love the flexibility and versatility of it. You can combine so many subjects with this one curriculum and here’s another great part..if you have multiple ages you’re teaching this program is so easy to customize and use with different levels of difficulty. That makes it extremely cost-effective which is a big bonus for me!

How does this program of the Middle Ages work?

This homeschool history program is absolutely FULL of living books! Did you learn much real history from those dry, dull textbooks you were forced to memorize! Yeah, I didn’t either. Honestly dates and names don’t mean that much if you don’t understand the why and the how behind what happened.

It also has copy-work, maps to color, and other projects! We just recently colored Columbus’s 3 ships!

Columbus’s 3 ships

One thing I want to make perfectly clear is this is history from a Christian perspective. But if you’re wanting a whitewashed version where all the men and women live these spotless, unrealistic lives you’ve come to the wrong place! These books make clear the faults and failures of these famous (and lesser known) explorers.

Do I recommend this program?

Yes, yes and yes! We’ve already learned so much about people like Leif Erickson, Augustine and many more! We’ve learned the why and the motivation behind the explorations and settlements. It continues to get more exciting and we are looking forward to continuing this unique and highly entertaining history of The Middle Ages!

A note about the author…

Jayme MacCullough created this curriculum because she wanted a thorough history homeschool curriculum that focused on God’s plan and purposes for mankind. She does an excellent job of helping you lay a firm foundation for your children!

Don’t forget to check back for a continuing review!

Disclaimer:. I was given these materials for my fair and honest review. I was not compensated in any other way or required to give a positive review.
