Disclaimer: I received a FREE copy of this product through the HOMESCHOOL REVIEW CREW in exchange for my honest review. I was not required to write a positive review nor compensated in any other way.

So most of the homeschool products I get to review are naturally for my kids but this one was all about me! I got to review Math Refresher for Adults from Math Essentials. This is a large, high quality paperback book with 224 pages of review plus the answer key and math terms.

Why would you need a math refresher book?

Hahaha! Any homeschool mom who attended government school that was excessively weak on math will roar with laughter at this question! I mean, seriously, math was zoomed through and forgotten as quickly. And when I reached high school it was simply a confusing jumble of homework I never quite understood. Don’t get me wrong, I am NOT bashing good teachers I just had a significant lack of them. Plus how much individual attention does one student get in a class of 30? Not much! But I digress here…

Anyway if you’re a homeschool parent and you want to brush up on your math skills in order to more easily help your kids. Or maybe you aren’t a homeschool parent but you still have to help your kids with homework. Or maybe you’re going back to school or need to take a test. Anyway this book could probably help just about anyone with their math skills!

What I like about this math book for adults:

This book is great! Its set up so simple and easy to use. I really don’t understand why math textbooks don’t use this format. Perhaps you would understand it better in the first place😬

It starts out with whole numbers, addition and subtraction. I actually love doing this. Yes I’m weird😆

Each page has review exercises, helpful hints and then more work. It also has a word problem on each page and places for notes. A video lesson is available online that you can watch also!

It goes all the way from using whole numbers to Algebra. My favorite was the angles and geometry part personally! I also loved refreshing my skills on fractions. Honestly math is fun if its not all stressful and inapplicable to real life. The chapters step short and consise and its not recommended that you spend more than an hour on it to prevent burn out.

I think word problems like these are super helpful because they are using real life situations!

Though this book is not intended to be a full curriculum fpr math in my opinion you could use it as a basis to make sure you get everything covered. It would also be great for a high school student who needs to take any kind of exams for college entrance or military.

I also think this math refresher could be hugely beneficial to an elderly person who needs to stretch their mind and increase their brain function (no its not advertised for that). I could see the possible benefits from this! Anytime we do things that we aren’t used to it grows our brain cells and this would be absolutely perfect for doing that!

We all reviewed different things so I encourage you to check out the different products at the link below!
