Online Times Alive from City Creek Press- Review

Jenny/ September 17, 2019/ Homeschool Reviews

When we first had the option to review a 6 month subscription to Online Times Alive from City Creek Press, Inc. my son hadn’t done multiplication at all!  So, I was curious to see how he would do with it.  This is a digital program that uses fun stories and songs to teach multiplication.  You need a PC to use this program as it uses your hard-drive to write to!  There is also an app available for iOS 9.0 or higher called  Times Alive App.  We didn’t review the app because we only have Android tablets & phones šŸ™‚

So, how does this program work?

First of all, you will need to go in and set up a parent account.  Under that, you can then add your students easily by simply typing in their name in the login box.  It then stores the information for each individual student on your computer, so be sure to put your child’s name in the same every time!

(Under your account you can also find out your subscription information which tells you when you renew!)

Then your child logs in and you will see a screen displaying all the lesson options.  You can start at the beginning and take a pre-test to determine where they should be at or do like I did and start with the first one (because my kids had no previous multiplication experience.

I really didn’t know what to expect from this program and was completely floored at the results from it!

It seems so simple, just using funny stories and songs to teach math but it definitely resonated with my children (ages 8, 5, 2).  Yes, even my 2 year old was singing the songs and telling me that 7×7=49!  Can you imagine that?

I did use this steadily with my 8 year old and the 5 year old begged to do it also.  (I guess there’s no law against learning to multiply before doing double digit addition, is there, lol?)

They absolutely loved this program & I actually had to make them stop each morning because they liked it so much!  After they do a funny story and a silly song then they take a little quiz on most of the sections.  Then they go to the next one.  After a few, they then take another quiz where they match the picture with the problem.  It not only helps them with their memory recall but firmly plants the stories and songs into the child’s mind.  I have to admit, I was singing these songs in my sleep šŸ™‚  They really are catchy!

There is a student progress report which shows you what they have completed at a glance and what they scored on the quizzes.  Super Helpful!

This is a fabulous program, especially if your children are like mine and learn wonderfully from songs!  The visual elements will also be great for visual learners!  I absolutely love how they teach multiplication, it makes it so easy & fun to learn!

I highly recommend this program & hope you’ll check it out!  Check out the other reviewers at the link below! Oh!  Before you go, use coupon code lovetolearn to waive the signup fee!
