"200 Essential Math Skills for Kindergarten" Review & a Free Trial!
If you’re like me, you don’t rely much on worksheets but you enjoy having a fun workbook that helps your child learn, around for your kids! So I was happy to get to review a new Workbook called “200 Essential Math Skills for Kindergarten” from Reading Eggs . We were also given a trial to the online program which now has an app for Android! Psst…keep on reading, I have a special for you!
What we thought of it:
This workbook is full color so my son immediately liked it! He is 5 and though he doesn’t like to sit still very often he does enjoy having special work of his own. He sat down right away and started working on it!
I liked it also. It starts at One and not only teaches them the numeral 1 but also the word one. I thought this was great because it helps them with reading practice also! They practice writing both and matching the number with the number of objects present. I thought it was very thorough! They learn numbers 1-20. Each number involves several pages of work. We are currently on number 6 though my son has skipped around some because he loves working on shapes.◀️⏹️⏺️
They will learn shapes, big and small, long and short, number lines, beginning addition and subtraction, tracing, doubles, days of the week and more!
The online program is just as fun! Gabe loved his “acorn” game as he calls it and asks to do it without prompting. In it he does tracing, counting and more to earn coins, which he can then use to buy pets, clothes ECT…
As they complete each section in the book they get certificates, which of course, kids love! Each page is not perforated so you can’t tear them out easily and the book is a good quality paperback.
We previously reviewed a reading skills workbook from Reading Eggs and my older son enjoyed it????. Though my kids don’t spend alot of time on worksheets, these are actually functional and not simply busywork. They can spend a few minutes a day on this and improve their skills while having fun! A good reward for my son for doing the workbook can be getting to use the app on the tablet!
It is easy to add this to our Lifeschooling method of learning because it is short and sweet! So it works perfectly to pack for car-rides or quiet times. My son likes to work on it as he’s setting down for naptime! It is also helpful because it refines their writing abilities and improves fine motor skills! My son has a somewhat difficult time with a pencil so its great practice in a fun way! It also uses coloring and dot to dot construction.
I’m pleased with the quality of this workbook and I recommend it to anyone who has a little one getting ready for kindergarten! And just for my readers, Reading Eggs is offering a FREE TRIAL of their app! Woohoo!
I hope you’ll check out the other reviews at the link below! We all got to review different workbooks so if you don’t need a kindergarten math you can still find out what the others thought of the other levels!
