My goofy kids “posing” for a picture!  They can’t be serious, lol!

Are you interested in training your children in character with the Bible as the foundation?  This is a huge issue with me and one I feel is the most important “subject” I can put in our homeschool. So, when I was able to review Proverbs People by Character Concepts I was thrilled!  I had previously reviewed their book Character Trails and we loved it!  This character training curriculum takes the book of Proverbs and digs deeply. This is fantastic for both children and adults!

What we’re working on in character training…

So far we have been learning about the slothful man and the diligent man.  Oh my goodness, there are so many practical applications for this!  We do not plough quickly through this series but instead are taking our time and really discussing 3-4 verses and questions each day.

What’s included in the set?

The set includes audio readings of Proverbs by Uncle Rick where he not only reads Proverbs but also explains many of the verses and gives different stories to illustrate them. We actually put this CD on while the kids are playing and they really enjoy listening to it (and so do I!).  In fact, Jake asks to listen to it just for fun.

There are flashcards that describe a trait and give a shortened meaning on the front and Bible verses about it on the back. We are using these as copy-work practice. We are also working on memorizing them.  They are sturdy, laminated cards!

What we think of our character training program…

I am so impressed with this set so far!  What makes me really happy is I can see my oldest son actually applying these principles!  He even makes frequent references to it. We’ve been discussing examples in our lives of diligent behavior and slothful behavior. I find myself questioning my work whether it is slothful or diligent and have made improvement!  So, you see, it’s not just kids that need this study!

What’s next?

We are continuing to travel through this study, sinking the words of wisdom from God into our hearts and lives. I’ll be updating this as we go along so you can see what we are learning and applying!

Here’s what coming up in Book 2!
