I am always on the lookout for good Biblical resources for my kids and when we were given the opportunity to review The Adventures of Rooney Cruz: RINGLEADERS from Truth Becomes Her I was excited! This was a set of books with a hardback story book, and paperback devotional, journal and coloring book all about Bible Heroes for girls! My daughter Lilly was SO happy to get this!
Why look for Bibles Heroes for Girls?
In our current society girls are encouraged to be loud, belligerent and quite frankly very brassy. But is that what God wants from our girls? Yes, they should be able to stand up for themselves (after all look at the women in the Bible who did this) but how they do it is important!. That’s why this book is a fantastic gift for the girls in your life. They NEED to hear what true womanhood is and what it isn’t.
What’s included in this series?
First off, there is a 209 page hardback book with the story of Rooney Cruz, a young girl who’s trying out for the school play. What is it that makes you important? Is it how loud you are? Rooney is going to find out with the little help of an angel named Mari. (ok, little disclaimer here, the angel is a girl. We don’t teach our kids that there are female angels because there isn’t any evidence of this butttt….this is easy for us personally to overlook). I’m not going to spoil the story by giving it all away.
Then there is a coloring book with pictures from the story. My daughters both loved this! It is a good thick coloring book. It also has a devotional just perfect for reading with your daughter each day. I read it with our oldest daughter Lilly 🙂 Then there is a mother/daughter journal. My girls aren’t quite old enough to use this part yet (almost 4 and almost 2) so I’ll put it back for them later.
What we liked about this Bible Heroes for Girls series?
First off, I love the quality! The pictures are color and the pages are thick and you know how much I LOVE hardback books 😉 The other books are a great quality for paperbacks also. I also really, really like the message of Bible heroes for girls. Girls need excellent heroes and this book definitely helps bring that message about. Another fantastic thing is that it comes as a set. How FUN is that!
What I didn’t like?
Ok, honestly here the only things I didn’t really like were a few technicalities like the girl angel. We don’t tend to get hung up on those kind of things (just us, lol) so as a whole we enjoyed this series and definitely recommend it as a gift to your daughter or granddaughter.
