I will be the first to admit that I have terrible handwriting😕 so I was excited to get to review a really neat product from Everyday Education LLC called Perfect Reading, Beautiful Handwriting ebook. This is a completely digital product (that teaches gorgeous Italic handwriting) and you can print exactly what you want and as often as you want. It can be used with your entire family making this very economical!
Why learn Italic Handwriting with Beautiful Handwriting?
So, like I said, this is completely digital! Who else loves digital homeschool products? If you have multiple children then digital is your friend! All you need is a computer, printer and paper! This all prints in black and white so that’s super nice also. I love color, but I don’t love printing color! Anyway, this Italic handwriting book is 218 pages long! But if you’re like me you might not print all of it (and you might print multiples of some too).
This book is designed to actually teach your children to read and write Italics at the same time. But its also for children who are struggling with reading or writing, older children who have bad handwriting and adults who want to have pretty handwriting (hand raised here, I am not joking, mine is AWFUL).
So, brutal honesty here, Jake was NOT thrilled to start an Italics handwriting program, lol. He actually considered it rather girlish (yes, I’m laughing here, because he is ALL boy!). However, I told him that I would do the practice with him. The above image is his handwriting, which drastically improved as he practiced this program. Did he ever like it? Well, no he didn’t, but it did what it was supposed to do, so sometimes you have to go with that! 9 year old boys are probably not generally excited about pretty handwriting! Anybody else get that?
This book is set up super easy to use and you can use the first part to actually go step by step and teach your child to read and write. The lady who published this used this with her first child and then was so disappointed that it went off the market when she was teaching her second child. That’s why she was thrilled to bring this book back!
The book is very user friendly. Jake and I both used it as a handwriting supplement to help improve both his and mine handwriting. I actually enjoyed it and I could see my daughters enjoying it later on. There may be some guys who enjoy writing beautifully, I just know any, lol. My handwriting definitely improved using this (as did Jake’s) and I thought it was peaceful and relaxing.
