Drive Thru History® "Acts to Revelation" Review

Jenny/ March 19, 2019/ Homeschool Reviews

We were given the opportunity to review Drive Thru History® and their brand new series Drive Thru History®“Acts to Revelation” and I was so excited about this!  The reason?  We love Drive Thru History® and have purchased their other serieses. Our whole family loves these!

What’s included?

  • 18 episodes on DVDs.

  • Study guide.

  • Hard case built like a book.

What’s the purpose?

  • To walk you through the places in the books of Acts- Revelation.

  • Teach you more about Jesus.

  • Encourage you to read your Bible.

  • Teach history from a hands on perspective.

How I used this resource:

  • Family movie night. Honestly these are so much fun that they are great to just watch as a family.

  • Family devotional.  These work awesome to watch an episode then read what God’s Word says about that specific part and discuss as a family.

  • History supplement.  My kids got to actually see the places in Bible history and learn so many things we didn’t know before.

The Bible is the infallible Word of God and contains loads of history however it is not a history book so there are many things that it simply doesn’t talk about. But we can benefit so much from knowing the historical context that the events took place in.

It also talks about different historical events that took place within the Christian Church after the Bible was completed.  For example it talks about the legend of St. George the dragon slayer and how he got that title.

One of the most awesome parts about it is the study guide!  It contains a summary of each video session, discussion questions, a side note that discusses in greater detail a person, event or place and it also has historical paintings throughout the study guide. We used this as part of our history program. We would watch the episode, then read the summary and discuss the questions.  It also has the Bible reading listed that go along with each session. If you follow the suggested readings you will read through the books of Acts-Revelation during your study.  It also has the answers to the questions in the back of the book.

If you are wanting to work through this quickly you can watch an episode a day and this would also work well with older children (or adults).  If you are wanting to use with the study guide I recommend doing one episode a week and completing the readings and any extra research you want to do during that week.  I used this method since I have younger kids.

Drive Thru History® has several other series which I highly recommend “American History”, “The Gospels”, “The Holy Land” and “The Gospels”.  Everything I have seen from them has highly impressed me!  The quality of the filming and audio is fantastic and very professional and the content is fascinating, informative and highly entertaining!

I hope you’ll check them out and don’t forget to check out the other reviewers at the link below!  Comment below if you’ve watched Drive Thru History® and what you love about them!
