“God Made Music” Homeschool Music Program
Do you struggle to fit music into your homeschool program? Me too! That’s why I was SO excited to review God Made Music from Praise Hymn Inc. (This is Grade 1 Video School). God Made Music is an online homeschool music program that has downloadable workbooks and online videos. The subscription program can be either monthly or yearly (ours is the yearly).
First off, the structure is very easy to navigate and use! You will have an account from which you can access “my content”. In this you will find pdf files for Student Workbook, Teacher’s Manual & Tips for Teachers. You can print these off all at once or as needed for your students. In our case I’m using this with multiple kids at one time (10, 7, 4 and 2) so I print them off as needed with 4 copies each time. Yes, even my 10 year old likes this homeschool music program!
You will also access your 34 video lessons from this page. All you have to do is choose the video you want to watch, then print the corresponding workbook page/pages. The videos are approximately 25 minutes long and they are incredibly entertaining. Honestly, we all really like them! Not only are the animal characters (such as LaLa the Ladybird) super cute and likeable but the music and scenery are fantastic!

Each video lesson introduces a new music concept. And while this says 1st Grade I can assure you that you can easily adapt these to older children also. So if you get this you can definitely use it with the whole family! (I LOVE programs like that!) Some of the music concepts that your kids will learn about are: Different music styles, instruments, loud and soft music, composers, notation and more!
The musical selections are beautiful and lean more towards a classical style. I consider them to be inspiring and peaceful NOT wild or chaotic! (Anyone else need that?)

Its up to personal preference how you do this homeschool music program but you can do one video per week to last a whole year! Then during the week you can rewatch the musical selections and talk about the concepts learned. You can then let your kids experiment with the different concepts.
Why would you need a homeschool music program?
Music is an incredibly important part of life! Why? Because truly God made music! He made the concept of music. He put music into our souls. I would wager a bet that every tribe, nation and family has had some form of music in their life.
Imagine our lives without music. But its also extremely important to be exposed to uplifting beautiful music as our world fills more and more with the sound pollution of chaotic “music”. God Made Music does exactly that! It helps to build an appreciation for quality music at a very early age.
There are some optional accessories but its perfectly doable without them also so there aren’t a bunch of hidden costs! (I like that!). There is a scope and sequence provided in the Teacher’s Manual and it fully explains each lesson clearly and concisely.
