"A Christmas Journey" book review

Jenny/ April 3, 2019/ Homeschool Reviews

I don’t know about you but I love to read rhyming books to my kids.  They are just so much fun 🙂  Most of them are pretty basic but I was very pleased and impressed with Kayla Jarmon’s book “A Christmas Journey” that she asked if I would review.

First of all they have it available in hardback and paperback and the color illustrations on each page are super adorable. I actually reviewed a digital copy but I am getting this in a print book for my Christmas read-a-louds.  Its a children’s book but honestly it has a message that pertains to everyone.

It tells the story of a little puppy who is going to a new home of a little girl who has had a disaster in her life and lost her dog.  She was to get a puppy for Christmas but in an accident the puppy is lost from the family as they take him to meet her.

You then travel with the little pup as he gets help from various animals of the woods (a deer and fox to name a couple).  There are scrapes and bumps along the way and you wonder, “will he make it out of this predicament in time for Christmas?”  Along the way you’ll learn of true friendship and sacrifice, the cost of pride and the true meaning of Christmas (with a beautiful re-telling of the Christmas story).

All of this is told through rhyme and is an incredibly in-depth story!  As with Kayla’s other stories her passion for children and love of Christ comes up through the pages.  This makes an absolutely beautiful story to read to your children each year at Christmas, but I have a feeling they will be asking you to read it many more times than that!

There are also discussion questions for each chapter at the back of the book and fun facts to learn!  You’ll most likely find that you enjoy this book as much as your kids do!

Kayla also has an advent calendar and activity booklet that go along with this book!  I’m getting those and will be posting my review of those in the very near future!  She has a super neat pack which includes the hardback book, advent calendar and activity book!  You can get the set on her website and she also has her books on Amazon HERE.

I also highly recommend Kayla’s other books (I reviewed a few last year, you can check that review out here).  Let me know in the comments below what appeals to you about this book!

disclaimer:  I received these resources free for my fair and honest review.  I was not required to make a positive review and received no other compensation!
