Journey Through the Code #12
Man if you are wondering what in the heck is going on right now in our world I’m right there with ya! It was estimated that if our shut downs continued through the end of April that 25% of our small businesses would close😟 That’s AWFUL! One huge reason for that unfortunately is the giant debtload most people and businesses carry in this country. That’s another reason why The Kingdom Code entrepreneur program we’ve been doing is SUPER important! In case you haven’t been following us you can read our Journal Entry #1 and get the whole scoop!
Now onto Lesson #12. Sorry we’ve been a bit behind but we are going to be scooting now to get these done by the end of June. My son has been implementing work strategies that he can use as he matures. Right now he’s actually been building a rabbit pen and we are building a chicken pen to get rabbits and chickens. He will get to sell his extra rabbits and eggs to help save for his EDUCATION goal (you can read about that in a previous lesson).
He’s also been doing his odd and end job business and right now is in the process of cutting and clearing brush from the land where we are planning on putting a hoop house. He is earning $5/hour so he has figured that he will give .50 to tithe, .50 to others, 1.00 to education, 1.00 to savings and 2.00 for himself out of each hour he works.
He’s also taking over the laundry for our family and is going to he earning a wage of $5 a week for that. Again he will dividing his earnings among his envelopes.
So this lesson has been about the Y in JOEYS and it stands for You! Yes that’s right, its important to save money to spend on yourself. But how much and how should you spend it? We also learned about impulse buying and Jake has been saving for a you he wants butttt we’re not buying it for him and I’m kinda doubtful that he’ll really want to spend all his hard earned money on that in the end😜 But I totally get the struggle because its SO easy to impulse buy. What are your needs versus your wants? Are you helping your kids diffrentiate between those? Let me tell you its a lesson that will serve you well your whole life!
Oh and he’s learning to choose carefully:
- Check prices at different stores.
- Compare prices online.
- Wait for an item to go on sale.
- Wait for its price to drop if its a new item.
- Buy used or second-hand.
- Look at classified ads.
Remember be a wise shopper!
Save 60% for YOU! My son made the decision to save 20% for his future education because he wants to go to a technical school to become a pilot.
Develop a GOOD NAME!
Check back later this week for Lesson #13!
