Learn to Read with Pride Reading Program!

Since we have 4 kids, teaching them to read is a HUGE issue! Our son Gabe (6) and our 3 year old daughter Lilly are learning to read with a new program I’m reviewing called PRIDE Reading Program. We got the first level of the PRIDE Reading Program Kit which is called PRIDE Beginning Consonants Program Kit. This included all our letter tiles, student book and online teacher manual. This program used the Orton-Gillingham method of learning. It also included an online assessment to accurately place them.

Why did we choose this reading program?

I chose this reading program because it is specifically designed for children with learning issues like sensory disorders, speech disorders, dyslexia, dysograhia ECT… Our son Gabe is very bright but struggles to retain learning like letter names and sounds. This program used a multi-sensory approach to overcome that.

This program is set up where the parent actually takes a training course so that they know exactly how to teach this. At first I thought, wow, this is a little over the top! But I was wrong! It has word for word on the online teacher manual what you say and what you ask them. All you have to do is follow the directions. I can tell you from experience that this is WAY easier for the parent.

Like I mentioned I’m actually using this with 2 of my kids at the same time. My 3 year old is so far advanced that she is begging to learn with her older brother! So, 2 birds with 1 stone!

How do we use this?

First off this is a super easy way to teach reading. Now I don’t mean you start on Monday and they’re reading by Friday lol. But the setup is extremely user-friendly. The lessons are short (less than 15-20 minutes).

We started with learning the consonants (b, c, f ECT…) This program does NOT speed you through the letters. There are several lessons per letter and you review each previously learned letters when you start each day.

This has made a HUGE difference in Gabe’s ability to retain his learning! I mean, I really cannot stress this too much. He’s remembering the next day and next what he’s learning. Its actually pretty incredible!

They use a multiple sensory approach to learning to read and write that is very effective especially with children who struggle. They use sky-writing, palm tracing, listening for sounds with their eyes closed. They also say a special mantra for each letter like in “b”, down, up and around.

We are really enjoying this program! Its such a blessing to SEE them improving and actually wanting to learn using this method. It doesn’t stress him out because it works with his strengths and weaknesses instead of against them!

I am very impressed with the ease of use for both parent and student! I highly recommend this, especially if you have a struggling learner! Don’t forget to read the other reviews at the link below!
